Very good morning readers Welcome to The Motivational Quote and Story.

There is a beautiful quote by Nelson Mandela which says –

“The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling but in rising every time we fall.”

This beautiful line aptly fits the person whose story we will learn today. She is a mother, motivational speaker, singer, artist, National Ambassador to UN, and belief it or not the first Asian wheelchair-using model. Yes, we are talking about Muniba Mazari Baloch who is also known as the “Iron Lady of Pakistan”.

Early Life of Muniba Mazari -

Muniba was born on 3rd March 1987 in Rahim Yar Khan, which is located in Southern Panjab province in Pakistan. She was brought up in a Muslim household along with her two brothers Sarfaraz Ali Mazari and Zulfiqar Ali Mazari. From an early age, Muniba demonstrated a strong, outspoken, and free-thinking personality, which later became evident in her becoming a famous public personality.

Education and Schooling -

Muniba in her childhood attended the Army Public School in Pakistan, which is a Government sponsored school. The army culture in her school helped her develop discipline at an early age. Later she did her Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from the Army Public School and College itself.

Muniba Mazari’s Marriage and post-Marital Family -

 Muniba got married at the early age of 18. Her husband's name is Khurram Shahzad. Khurram was a former Pakistani Air force pilot. Both of them got married in 2005. Currently, Muniba is separated from her husband Khurram. Muniba got her divorce in the year 2015, which ended her ten years of married life. In the year 2011 Muniba adopted her only son Nael Mazari.

The Accident that Changed Muniba’s Life -

It was the 27th of February 2008, while Muniba and her husband were visiting Muniba’s hometown, Rahim Yar Khan, their car got into an accident. Muniba was just 21 years old at that time. This accident changed Muniba’s world upside down. Both the couple suffered severe injuries due to the accident. The magnitude of the accident was particularly severe for Muniba as she suffered multiple injuries such as broken arm bones,  broken collar bone, broken ribs, dislocated shoulder blades, shattered spine, ruptured liver, and ruptured lungs.

Because of her life-threatening injuries especially to her spine, she was not able to feel her lower body. Muniba became bedridden for two years due to her paralyze. It took a long treatment and physiotherapy for her to recover. Post of her recovery she become bound to a wheelchair.

Defamation charges against Muniaba

In November 2017 Muniba’s former husband, Khurram Shahzad filed a defamation charge against her. According to Khurram, Muniba in her various social media interactions tried to defame him by manipulating the truth of their accident. As per Khurram, Muniba trolled him by saying the reason behind the accident was the driver of the car (Khurram) fell asleep while driving, which caused the accident, also at the last moment Khurram jumped out of the car to avoid further injuries.

As a penalty of the defamation Khurram sued her for a Ten Million Pakistani rupee, along with a public apology. Muniba fought against this law suite and denied paying the defamation charges. Later Khurram dropped the penalty charge and tried to do the settlement by receiving only the legal charges. In the year 2018, the Pakistani court finally dismissed the defamation case.

Muniba's Carrier Post-accident -

Though physically disabled, Muniba did not succumb to it mentally. She devoted herself to doing various types of works of her interest. Muniba’s Father was himself was an artist who influenced Muniba to become interested in arts. This is the reason Muniba grew up to become very good at Arts and crafts. Post of her recovery she persuades her carrier as a painter, in fact, she started painting while she was in Agha Khan Hospital. She generally prefers the contemporary way of drawing with paintbrushes. In most of her pictures of Muslim women in their traditional outfits can be observed.

Muniba worked with UNICEF and helped their cause of helping the children who were suffering from deadly diseases like Thalassemia. She helped the poor and helpless people by serving food. She also donated many of her beautiful artworks to the United Nations high commissioner for refugees (USHCF), so that the organization can auction those works and raise funds to help the needy and helpless refugees of Afghanistan and Somalian origin.

Apart from this Muniba also actively worked on various social issues, such as gender equality, transgender issue, issues which the disabled people had to face in their daily life, Sexual abuse, and Acid attack issues. She also involved herself in various projects to bring social reforms. The projects like “Dil say Pakistan”, where the main of her was to promote patriotism and love for the nation among the youth. She was also worked on a project of teaching the Urdu language in the school, called “Dheere Bolo”, which she started from the school of her son. Apart from that, she did a lot of Television hosting on Pakistani National TV and other Pakistani news media. She also made many guest appearances in many motivational speaking events throughout the country.

She continued her work in various fields other than Painting such as motivational speaking, etc. where she gained fame and popularity. During this time “ Toni & Guy”, an International hairdressing salon, chose her as a model for their campaign named “Women Of Substance”  thus she became the first wheelchair-using Model in Asia. Muniba being a specially-abled model later became the brand ambassador of the Body shop and Ponds. Muniba then got the prestigious tag name “Pond’s Miracle Women”.

She also took part in spreading unity and patriotism in Pakistan via the Dil Say Pakistan campaign. After getting shortlisted in “100 Inspirational Women of 2015” she became the National Ambassador for UN Women Pakistan. Later became the first Pakistani UN Goodwill Ambassador.

In June of 2019 Imran Khan (Pakistani PM) made her a part of the National Youth Council of Pakistan.
